The 42nd Canadian Parliament is the incoming Parliament of Canada, with the membership of its House of Commons having been determined by the results of the 2015 federal election held on October 19, 2015. Parliament will officially resume on December 3, 2015, followed by a Speech from the throne the following day.

*** Section 32 of the Constitution Act, 1867 requires the Governor-in-Council--Prime Minister Trudeau once the 29th Canadian Ministry is sworn in and designated such by the Governor General of Canada--to appoint Senators to vacant Senate seats "promptly". Reference Re Senate Reform, handed down by the Supreme Court of Canada, sets forth the Constitutional requirements under the Constitution of Canada as to constitutional structural reform of the Senate of Canada.
