Stroke

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death, disability and illness in Canada. Approximately, 10,000 Canadians die each year from a stroke and almost 300,000 Canadians live with its after-effects. Although a stroke is possible at any point in our lives, the risk of having one increases with age. Canadians who smoke, have high blood pressure, or have a family history of stroke and heart problems are also at greater risk for a stroke.

Call 911 or your local emergency number right away if you or someone around you is experiencing one or more of the signs and symptoms of stroke.
