Nygård International is a Canadian clothing brand based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It is one of the largest women's clothing manufacturers and suppliers in the world, with annual sales of over $500 million.[1] The company employs 12,000 people worldwide and supplies its clothing lines to more than 200 retail stores in North America.[2]

History[edit]

Nygård International began as a sportswear manufacturer, founded in 1967 by Peter Nygård.[4]

In 1978 the company expanded into the United States and in 1987 Nygård opened the company's international sales and marketing headquarters in Toronto, Canada.

Product lines and retail outlets[edit]

Nygård International has seven product lines, including ALIA, ALIA Sport and TanJay. The Nygård Fashions brands include Peter Nygård, Bianca Nygård, and Nygård Collection. Nygård Moderate also has three National Brands that are exclusively available at Dillard's in the US.

Retail Stores Carrying Nygård Brands include Dillard's, Sears, J. C. Penney, Belks, and The Bay.

Fashion and technology[edit]

Nygård's company slogan is "Where Fashion Meets Technology" and the company has won numerous technology-related awards, including the 2007 Most Innovative VICS CPFR Implementation,[5] and 2009 BeyeNETWORK Vision Award for Business Impact.[6] Nygård International has also been used by Microsoft as the subject of a case study highlighting the early adoption of an electronic ordering system.[7]
