Mobile devices[edit]

You may browse Wikipedia using WAP, a simplified format designed for mobile devices. See Wikipedia:WAP access for the different solutions available.

For many phones, Opera Mini gives a much easier browsing experience for Wikipedia than the built in browser. See: http://www.operamini.com/

Wapedia is a website that brings the contents of Wikipedia to mobile devices like mobile phones and PDAs.[1][2]

Windows[edit]

BzReader is an offline Wikipedia reader with fast search capabilities. It renders the Wiki text into HTML, so you may browse between the articles like in real Wikipedia. Requires Microsoft .NET framework 2.0.

Mac OS X widget[edit]

For users of Mac OS X 10.4 or newer, there is a Wikipedia Dashboard widget.

Alternative portals[edit]

  • Intropedia - iGoogle gadget for searching & viewing introductions of Wikipedia articles within the Google homepage.
  • Indywiki (ex Indywikia) is a GUI app that provides new ways of browsing wikipedia content.
  • Gollum browser presents Wikipedia in an alternative format and adds a toolbar with handy features.
  • Wikipedia:Tools/1-Click_Answers (proprietary software download, for Windows and Mac OS X)
  • Wikibrowse - Desktop browser for Wikipedia
  • Whiteglobe - Platform independent desktop Wikipedia browser (Site no longer exists)
