Fort Normandeau was a settlement set up by the Canadian Militia in 1885 during the Riel Rebellion. The Fort's location was at a railway checkpoint in Alberta that connected Calgary and Edmonton. The town of Red Deer, Alberta sits on the site of the fort.
The Crossing was used by North-West Mounted Police until 1893 when it was abandoned.
