Their Excellencies to Host The Earl and Countess of Wessex at Rideau Hall
During their Working Visit to Canada
OTTAWA—On the occasion of a working visit to Canada by Their Royal Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex, Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will host Their Royal Highnesses at Rideau Hall during their stay in the national capital, on September 11 and 12, 2012.
Their Royal Highnesses, accompanied by Their Excellencies, will participate in the following public events:

Reception on the Occasion of the Third Biennial Gathering of the Royal Victorian Order Association of Canada
In honour of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne, and on the occasion of Their Royal Highnesses’ visit, His Excellency will address members of the Royal Victorian Order Association of Canada during a reception at Rideau Hall. During the event, the members will have the opportunity, for the first time, to sign the new Canadian Register of the Royal Victorian Order and Medal.
Established by Queen Victoria on April 21, 1896, the Royal Victorian Order rewards extraordinary, important or personal services performed for the Sovereign or the Royal Family.

Visit to the Canadian War Museum
Her Excellency Sharon Johnston will join Her Royal Highness for a tour of the Museum’s 1812 exhibition and view some of the permanent exhibitions.

Visit to the RCMP Musical Ride Centre
Her Excellency Sharon Johnston will accompany Her Royal Highness to the RCMP Musical Ride Centre, where they will view riding demonstrations and meet with Musical Ride candidates.

This will be the Earl’s 33rd visit to Canada, and the Countess’ 9th visit. Starting in Ottawa on September 11, Their Royal Highnesses will travel to Iqaluit, Nunavut, before returning to Ontario for a tour that will include stops in Trenton, Toronto, Hamilton, St. Catharines and Midland.
