On February 2, 2016 she was appointed Minister of Labour and Minister Responsible for Democratic Renewal.[2]

In the first session (2015) of the 29th Alberta Legislature Gray was appointed as Chair of the Select Special Ethics and Accountability Committee and Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts. Following her elevation to Cabinet she no longer holds these roles. Instead, as Minister Responsible for Democratic Renewal, Gray will now be the Minister receiving the Select Special Ethics and Accountability Committee's final report, once the committee's work is completed.
