“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights,” said the United Nations in an historic declaration in 1948. These are the opening words of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. After the Second World War, the United Nations (newly founded in 1945) wanted a common standard as a way to promote freedom, justice and peace around the world. That declaration was only the beginning.
