General Museum Guidelines and Visitor Information

  • Wheelchairs, strollers and cane seats are available at the Coat Check for visitor use on a first-come,first-served basis. Photo ID or a credit card will be required as a deposit.
  • For the safety of the exhibits and our visitors, nothing may be carried on your back. Any bag or other item that cannot be carried reasonably and safely in some other manner must be checked.
  • Service animals are welcome; however, pets are not permitted.
  • Washrooms are located on every level. 
  • Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the Museum
  • Shirt and footwear are required for entry.
  • Food and drink are permitted in Bonnie & John Buhler Hall but not permitted in the galleries.

 

Coat Check 

For your comfort and convenience, a Coat Check is available free and located at the main entrance across from the Ticketing and Information desk.   

  • Please leave valuable items at home. You will need to sign a waiver if you leave valuables at the Coat Check.
  • All backpacks, shopping bags, packages and umbrellas must be checked at the Coat Check.
  • Luggage, carry-on bags, and oversize backpacks are not allowed in the Museum and cannot be checked at the Coat Check.

Cell Phone, Camera, Electronic Media 

You can take photos in the Museum galleries for private, non-commercial use only. The use of flash is prohibited at all times and in all galleries. Movie and video cameras are prohibited.

For your safety and security, we ask visitors not to lean over railings when taking photos.  

Photographs cannot be published, sold, reproduced, transferred, distributed, or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner whatsoever. 

For media and other special photography, including film and videotape projects, please contact Communications and External Relations during business hours at 204-289-2112.

Please turn your cell phone to the vibrate setting and be respectful of other visitors when using your cell phone.

Please do not use your mobile phone for conversations in the galleries.

 

Lost and Found 

Any found unclaimed property can be turned in to Lost & Found located at the Coat Check across from the Ticketing and Information desk. We will make every attempt to contact the owner when identification is located on the item. After two weeks, unclaimed items will be discarded.
