Middle and Senior Years (Grades 7-12)

Key events, people and changes that have affected First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples throughout Canadian history are explored in this program. Students will gain an understanding of and respect for Indigenous world views on rights and responsibilities, and talk about opportunities for reconciliation.

Students learn that all people have human rights, and that Indigenous peoples have distinct perspectives on rights and responsibilities which are considered essential for creating and maintaining a good life.  

Students experience a tour in three galleries, which includes viewing a film on Indigenous perspectives.  

Students participate in a simulation/role play activity that explores the impact of colonization on Indigenous peoples in North America. 

Students discuss their reactions to what they have learned about Indigenous experiences and how we can work together towards making positive changes for the future.
