Special programs and events are designed to encourage thought and conversation about the meaning of The Witness Blanket. Discover the inspiration behind the exhibit in an interactive talk with creator Carey Newman or immerse yourself in a performance of Andrew Balfour’s Take the Indian, an artistic reflection on the experiences of children in the schools. You can also reserve a group focus tour of the Museum’s stories about Indigenous Peoples’ rights.

What: Performance of Andrew Balfour’s Take the Indian: A Vocal Reflection on Missing Children
More information: Join us for a special performance of Take the Indian: A Vocal Reflection on Missing Children. With music by Winnipeg-based vocal group Camerata Nova, composer Andrew Balfour interprets through movement the legacy of the residential school experience. The evening will include a traditional ceremony and a panel discussion with Andrew Balfour, artistic director of Camerata Nova, and elders who are residential school survivors.

Cost ($18.00 for adults | $12.00 for students).
