Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Turnbull to offer congratulations on his electoral win.

The two leaders reaffirmed strong bilateral ties based on a long history of cooperation and a common set of values. 

Prime Minister Trudeau emphasized the importance Canada places on continued multilateral cooperation with Australia and increasing people-to-people and trade and investment ties.
