Passports for children

For those affected by the Alberta wildfires:

Special measures are in place, including free replacements of passports and travel documents. Read the notice to find out more. If you don’t meet the requirements in the notice, call 1-800-567-6868.

All Canadian children, from newborns to age 16, require their own passport to travel. Children may only be issued a passport with a maximum validity of 5 years. A child’s passport remains valid until it reaches its expiry date, even after the child turns 16.
