Michel Roy

Michel Roy is an administrator and a creator who has served in both the public and private sectors. His career has taken him to Quebec City, Montreal, Chicago and Miami. Michel Roy worked in television production in the 1960s and edited more than 60 programs for Radio- Canada. He then joined the Quebec Public Service, where he held among others the positions of Deputy Minister of Tourism, Deputy Minister of Communications, and Head of the Quebec Delegation in Chicago for twelve Midwest states. Following this, he was a management consultant in the private sector. As a musician and a composer, he produced two jazz albums. He also wrote a biography of hockey goaltender Patrick Roy entitled Le Guerrier, which was translated into English under the title Patrick Roy – Winning. Nothing Else. Mr. Roy holds a master’s degree in Public Administration.

Corey Anne Bloom

Corey Anne Bloom is a Chartered Accountant (CA), a CA-designated specialist in Investigative and Forensic Accounting (CA•IFA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). She has accumulated over 18 years of experience in fraud investigations, forensic accounting, dispute resolution, litigation support, IT forensics and auditing. Among her various accomplishments, she was an elected Chair of the International Board of Regents of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and led the Fraud Advisory services practice as well as the Forensic IT practice of a large accounting and consulting firm. She also served as a member of the Core Team of the Anti-Fraud Guidance Paper “Managing the Business Risk of Fraud: A Practical Guide” – a joint collaboration between the AICPA, the IIA and the ACFE. A recipient of the Governor General’s Award of Excellence of Canada, Ms. Bloom is a well respected speaker on white-collar crime, fraud and forensic accounting related topics and has been invited to speak internationally on several occasions. She currently is a partner at MNP and she is an Associate Graduate Faculty member at U of T where she teaches the Advanced Investigative Related Matters course. Ms. Bloom has taught in the McGill University BCom and MBA programs and co-instructed the Governance and Controls course in the McGill CA program. Ms. Bloom speaks English, French and Spanish.

Claude Joli-Cœur has been Acting Government Film Commissioner and Chairperson of the National Film Board of Canada since January 2014. He previously held this position from December 2006 to June 2007. In addition to these duties, he continues to be in charge of Business Affairs and Legal Services, Strategic Planning and Government Relations, and Corporate Communications. He joined the NFB as Director, Business Affairs and Legal Services, and Secretary to the Board of Trustees in October 2003 and was appointed Assistant Commissioner in June 2007. Mr. Joli-Cœur earned a law degree from the Université de Montréal and has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 1979. He practised law with the firms of Langlois Drouin and Lafleur Brown in Montreal from 1979 to 1985 and was legal counsel at Telefilm Canada from 1985 to 1987. From 1987 to 1995, he worked for Astral Entertainment Group, a film financing and distribution company, first as Director of Business Affairs and then as Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs. In 1995, he was appointed Vice President, Legal and International Affairs, for Coscient Group (Motion International), a position that he held for five years. From 2000 to 2002, he served as Vice President, Legal and Business Affairs, and Secretary of TVA International Inc. before becoming Vice President, Business Affairs, for Zone 3 Inc. and then joining the NFB. A specialist in entertainment law and international co-productions, Mr. Joli-Cœur has participated in several committees dealing with international co-productions between Canada and European countries such as France, Germany and the United Kingdom. He has also represented distributors and producers in numerous industry associations. From 2002 to 2011, Mr. Joli-Coeur was an Executive Committee member and Treasurer of the Alliance for Children and Television. He has sat on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Retransmission Collective (CRC) since 2004.

Grant Machum is a Partner with the Atlantic Canada Law Firm of Stewart McKelvey. His practice focuses on litigation, employee relations, dispute resolution, Human Rights, investigations and labour relations. In addition to his numerous professional affiliations Mr. Machum is currently Chair of the Board of Governors of Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University (NSCAD), Board member of Prescott Group, and on the Advisory Committee for Grafton Connor. Mr. Machum has held various management roles at his Firm.Married with four children Mr. Machum is also a skilled and enthusiastic sailor. He and his wife Jane are actively involved in community fundraising activities.

Elise Orenstein

Elise Orenstein is a Toronto lawyer. Ms. Orenstein obtained a BA (Honours) from McGill University, a M. Phil. from Oxford University and a LL.B from Osgoode Hall law school. She was called to the bar of Ontario in 1983 and has been a senior partner in two major Toronto law firms. Ms. Orenstein has practised in the area of corporate and commercial law with special emphasis on intellectual property law. She has represented public and private corporations as well as clients in a broad range of industries, particularly convergent media, knowledge management and entertainment. Ms. Orenstein has served on the Board of several privately held companies and taught law at York University. As a volunteer, she has served on the Boards of various arts organizations and as Chair of the Artists’ Health Centre Foundation (AHCF). In addition to her independent legal practice, she currently sits on the Advisory Boards of the AHCF and the Dancer Transition Resource Centre.

Ram Raju is a pioneer in digital goods management through the Internet and is founder and CEO of one of the world's leading providers of hosted solutions in the education market. Kivuto Solutions Inc. currently has over 30,000 institutional customers in over 100 countries and manages digital assets for major software vendors like Microsoft, Adobe and VMware. Mr. Raju serves as an investor, advisor, and board member for Internet start-ups. Prior to Kivuto Solutions Inc., Mr. Raju worked at Dalhousie University as a professor of information systems and as a manager of computing and information systems. His work in this field was recognized in 1995, when he was elected vice-president of the Canadian Association of Campus Computer Stores to represent more than $125 million in purchasing power in negotiations with hardware and software companies. Mr. Raju holds three degrees from Dalhousie University: a bachelor of arts, a bachelor of science, and a master of business administration. Married with three children, Mr. Raju is an avid traveler and has long term interests in literature, art, and history.
