Evaluations

Evaluation is the systematic collection and neutral analysis of evidence on the outcomes of programs to make judgements about program relevance and performance.

The Evaluation function at DFO provides two main services:

  • Conducting evaluations of programs, policies, and initiatives – the Evaluation function provides accurate, timely and impartial information to senior departmental management, Central Agencies, and others, to inform, to guide and to support decision makers.

  • Providing advice on performance measurement strategies and frameworks – the Evaluation function provides advice to program managers regarding their performance measurement strategies and frameworks for proposed and ongoing spending. This includes the provision of advice on the performance measurement framework embedded in the DFO Management, Resources and Results Structure (MRRS).
