Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement

Leona Alleslev

On December 2, 2015, the Prime Minister announced the appointment of Leona Alleslev as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Services and Procurement.

As Parliamentary Secretary, Ms. Alleslev supports the Minister with parliamentary, public and departmental duties.

Prior to her election to Parliament, Ms. Alleslev held leadership positions at National Defence, as well as senior managerial roles with IBM Canada and Bombardier Aerospace.  She has also served on the boards of the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada, the Ontario Aerospace Council and Women in Aerospace Canada.

In these various roles, Ms. Alleslev worked to change the way multi-million dollar government contracts were structured, evaluated and awarded. As an industry thought leader, she has presented advanced manufacturing technical papers at engineering and maintenance society conferences.

She and her husband also owned and operated an eco-tourism business in Temagami, Ontario, for 10 years.

Ms. Alleslev holds a bachelor of arts with honours in history and politics from the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario, and she received her Queen’s Commission to serve as a Royal Canadian Air Force logistics officer.
