Parliamentary Secretary Champagne Highlights Canada’s Plan for Growth and the Importance of Canada-U.S. Trade in Boston

The Government of Canada is committed to strengthening Canada’s place in the world through a proactive and positive approach, and by working with our partners to advance trade, innovation and clean energy in order to improve the lives of middle class families and all Canadians.
In a speech to the spring conference of the New England Economic Partnership in Boston, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance François-Philippe Champagne underlined the importance of Canada-U.S. trade, and of Canada’s enduring role as a strong, reliable partner. He also took the opportunity to highlight the Government’s upcoming Innovation Agenda, and to congratulate the Canadian Technology Accelerator in Boston (CTA@Boston) team for winning the International Business Innovation Association’s (InBIA) 2016 Accelerator Program of the Year Award.
In his speech, Parliamentary Secretary Champagne described the Government’s approach to revitalizing the Canadian economy and growing the middle class, while maintaining a low debt burden.

- Since its start in 2013, the CTA@Boston has hosted over 70 Canadian companies at the Cambridge Innovation Center for four-month residencies, with over $54 million in capital raised.
- A key feature of the CTA@Boston is the partnership with the Canadian Entrepreneurs in New England, providing a unique team mentoring service to participating companies. In 2014, the two organizations created a world-class mentoring program, which is recognized through the InBIA award.
