State Visit - President of Mexico - Itinerary

Québec and Ottawa Itinerary for the Governor General
and the President of the United Mexican States 

OTTAWA— His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will officially welcome His Excellency Enrique Peña Nieto, President of the United Mexican States, to Canada for a State visit from June 27 to 29.

The detailed itinerary of the events involving the Governor General and President Peña Nieto can be found below:

Monday, June 27
Québec, Quebec

10 a.m.
Official Welcoming Ceremony
An official welcoming ceremony, with military honours, will be held at the Residence of the Governor General at the Citadelle of Québec. President Peña Nieto will inspect the guard of honour. The Governor General and the President will then offer remarks.

Ceremonial Tree Planting
The President will plant a hemlock on the grounds of Rideau Hall to commemorate his visit to Canada. 

Over 140 commemorative trees grace the grounds of Rideau Hall, the official residence of the governor general of Canada. They mark visits by members of the Royal Family, heads of State and other dignitaries.

State Dinner
Their Excellencies will host a State dinner in honour of the President’s visit to Canada. The Governor General and the President will deliver remarks on this occasion. The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, and Madame Sophie Grégoire Trudeau will attend the event.

OPEN TO POOL MEDIA—Official photo at 7 p.m., in the Reception Room, and remarks at the beginning of the State dinner in the Ballroom.

 MEDIA ACCREDITATION FOR EVENTS AT THE CITADELLE

 To cover events at the Citadelle, media representatives must confirm their attendance in advance with the Rideau Hall Press Office. Media representatives are asked to arrive at least 40 minutes prior to events taking place. They will be asked to present valid photo ID along with their affiliated media credentials.

 MEDIA ACCREDITATION FOR EVENTS AT RIDEAU HALL

To cover events at Rideau Hall, media representatives must be accredited in advance by the Parliamentary Press Gallery and must confirm their attendance with the Rideau Hall Press Office. Media representatives are asked to arrive at least 20 minutes prior to events taking place.
