When your application has been received, IRCC will contact you to schedule an appointment only if the situation justifies it or if deemed necessary by the processing office.

Application status and other changes to your file
You can contact IRCC if you submitted an application from within Canada and:
- the normal processing time for your application has passed and
- you cannot verify the status of your application using the online application status page or
- you wish to report important changes about your application, such as births, deaths, marriages, divorces, adoptions, changes in job status or
- you need urgent processing.

If you would like to make a refugee claim, you must present yourself to one of the offices below with the required forms completed. Please check the services of the offices carefully as not all offices accept refugee claims, and some offices have specific hours where refugee claims are accepted.
IRCC offers itinerant services (services provided outside local IRCC offices) in regions across Canada.
