Ministerial Message - CIHR President Dr. Alain Beaudet announces his retirement from the public service

Today, the Honourable Jane Philpott, Minister of Health, acknowledged the announcement by Dr. Alain Beaudet that he will be retiring as President of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), effective March 31, 2017. 

"I would like to thank Dr. Beaudet for his service to Canadians during his time at CIHR," she said. "Dr. Beaudet brought to CIHR a passionate commitment to health research and to innovation in achieving the mandate of the organization."

"I applaud Dr. Beaudet's efforts to work more collaboratively with stakeholders to better integrate research into care, which is a priority of the Government of Canada‎, and one of the original objectives of establishing CIHR."

"As Minister of Health, I am particularly grateful for the work of the CIHR and the thousands of researchers it supports to ensure evidence-informed practice and to improve health outcomes for Canadians," said Minister Philpott. "I look forward to working with Dr. Beaudet's successor to strengthen CIHR for the future."
