Sport Organizations

Sport Canada funds many of the organizations that make up Canada’s sport system at the national level through the Sport Support Program (SSP).  Each of these organizations plays a role in supporting amateur sport or in promoting active and healthy living for Canadians.

• National Sport Organizations (NSOs) are the national governing bodies for a given sport in Canada. 
• National Multisport Service Organizations (MSOs) lead or coordinate the delivery of specific services to the national sport community. 
• Canadian Sport Centres and Institutes support the development of high performance sport by providing training environments across Canada and by promoting the profession of coaching.
