Jules Léger Library

The Jules Léger Library's main mandate is to support the research needs of departmental employees both at Headquarters in Ottawa and at missions abroad. In addition, the Library supports the needs of Canadian and foreign clients conducting research in the subject areas mandated to the Department such as Global Affairs Canada.

Our location

The Jules Léger Library is located on the main level of the Lester B. Pearson Building at 125 Sussex Drive, Ottawa. Reference and lending services continue to be available in person, by phone and e–mail during the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (excluding statutory holidays and weekends).

All non–Departmental visitors to the Jules Léger Library will require a visitor's pass. To obtain a pass, please register at the Commissionaire's desk located on the main level of the L.B.Pearson Building (125 Sussex Drive, Ottawa). Valid identification is required.

Please note that the majority of the Library’s print collection is now located offsite. We recommend you use our online public access catalogue to identify which resources might be of interest to you. Please contact our Reference Desk for more information.

Public services

The Library also offers many services for the public including interlibrary loans, reference and research facilities, and loan instructions for retired departmental staff and members of the diplomatic corps.
