News: Coordinate time-series for reference stations of compliant RTK networks now available!
Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has entered into formal compliance agreements with interested Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GNSS service providers from private industry to ensure the integration of their reference stations into the NAD83(CSRS) national standard. As part of this agreement, NRCan derives official NAD83(CSRS) coordinates which are to be used by these RTK service providers for their reference stations. NRCan has also developed an interface to the compliant RTK Networks which allows users to see which RTK GNSS service providers are participating in this compliance project, to download NRCan-derived GNSS station positions, and to view time-series results from participating private RTK networks operating in Canada.
Geodetic reference systems stem from the need to provide a consistent and integrated reference surface for data analysis. Applications include surveying, mapping, navigation, remote sensing and mineral exploration amongst others. At the national level, NRCan maintains the Canadian Spatial Reference System (CSRS), through the use of the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD83CSRS), which is the adopted standard in Canada.
This site provides end-users with the geodetic data and tools they need for a range of commercial and private uses. One of the most popular services is the online CSRS-PPP service, which provides centimetre-accuracy positioning in either NAD83(CSRS) or ITRF using GNSS technologies.
