The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) continuously strives to be transparent and accountable in how it does business.
Complaints and Appeals Office
The CFIA has a Complaints and Appeals Office (CAO). The CAO accepts complaints, appeals, comments or compliments related to:
- service delivery;
- administrative errors; and
- regulatory decisions.
Compliance and Enforcement
As of March 16, 2011, the CFIA began posting data on its enforcement and compliance activities.
Consultations
Consultation supports open and transparent government. It allows for discussion among Canadians, and between Canadians and government, about designing, implementing and evaluating government activities.
Reports to Parliament
The CFIA is accountable to Canadians and reports to Parliament through key documents.
Statement of Rights and Service for Producers, Consumers and Other Stakeholders
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has developed a Statement of Rights and Service for Producers, Consumers and Other Stakeholders, as well as six accompanying guides to inspection.
Transparency in Regulatory Decision Making
The CFIA has developed a policy on Transparency in Regulatory Decision Making.
