Commissioner shares his views on Bill C-37, An Act to amend the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Today, Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Daniel Therrien, appeared before the Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs to discuss Bill C-37, An Act to amend the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and to make related amendments to other Acts.

In his remarks, he acknowledged the importance of addressing drug abuse and addiction in a comprehensive manner. While Bill C-37 touches upon a number of matters, the Commissioner focused his comments on those clauses that amend the Customs Act and the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act.
