The NCC invites you to attend a site visit and public consultation for a proposed project to increase public access to the Bronson Pulp Mill ruins and Richmond Landing shoreline. Participants will have an opportunity to view and visit the islands and shorelines, and will be invited to share their thoughts about the potential improvements to these areas.

When?

Tuesday, October 7, 2014
Public consultation: 4:30 pm to 8 pm
Site visit: 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Workshop: 6:45 pm to 8 pm

Where?

Public consultation and workshop:
Mill Street Brew Pub, 555 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario

Site visit:*
Departing from the outside entrance of the Mill Street Brew Pub, and consisting of the following locations: Richmond Landing, Bronson Pulp Mill, Amelia Island, Energy Ottawa power-generation facilities and Victoria Island

These initiatives are part of the NCC’s efforts to showcase and increase public access to the Capital’s shorelines. The objective of the project is to enhance public experience of the shorelines and the islands through the following:

Providing public access for pedestrians and cyclists from the Ottawa shoreline. Bridges could connect Richmond Landing, Victoria Island and Amelia Island.
Providing universally accessible routes from the Portage Bridge and Wellington Street intersection to Richmond Landing, as well as from the Bronson Pulp Mill, to allow visitors to discover the ruins.
Developing interpretation (Aboriginal, natural, industrial and military heritage), lookouts and wayfinding.
