The Department of Industry, Science and Technology (DIST) has advised that the undertakings will broadcast on the frequency of 89.9 MHz (channel 210LP) rather than on frequency 107.7 MHz (channel 299LP), as had been indicated in CRTC Notice of Public Hearing 1995-3 dated 23 February 1995.
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1992-38 dated 29 May 1992 entitled "Policies for Community and Campus Radio", the Commission will issue licences for Type B community radio stations. These licences will be in effect only for the duration of the events taking place during April and May 1995, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licences to be issued.
It is a condition of each licence that the applicant broadcast no more than 6 minutes of advertising in any hour of broadcast, and that it broadcast no more than an average of 4 minutes of advertising for every hour of broadcast up to a total of 504 minutes of advertising per week, in accordance with the community radio policy for Type B stations.
DIST has advised the Commission that these applications are conditionally technically acceptable, and that Broadcasting Certificates will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licences, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from DIST that its technical requirements have been met, and that Broadcasting Certificates will be issued.
