Larkin Kerwin Library

The library was founded in 1991 shortly after the creation of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). In 2000 the library was named after Larkin Kerwin in honour of the first president of the CSA.

Our goals are

• to develop a specialized collection that supports the work of the scientists, researchers, engineers and administrators within the CSA
• to provide access to information products and services

The Larkin Kerwin Library is a bridge to the world of information and a partner in research. It provides access to a collection of scientific, technical and general documents as well as access to a great variety of electronic sources of information. The Library is strategically placed to provide expertise for the retrieval, acquisition, organization and dissemination of information within the CSA.

Loan services

Employees of the Canadian Space Agency, its partners and other libraries have access to documents in the general collection.

The library collection is listed in AMICUS, the Canadian national catalogue, and in WorldCat, the Online Computer Library Center's (OCLC's) catalogue.

External clients have to make an interlibrary loan request through their public, educational or institutional library. Some documents (periodicals, reference works or controlled-access reports) are strictly for internal use and cannot be sent out.

The loan period is four weeks with possibility to renew if the item have not been reserved by another client.

On-site consultation

The library provides a reading room for on-site consultation as well as audiovisual equipment for videos and microfiche and computers for access to the automated catalogue and the Internet. Members of the public must make an appointment to visit the library.

Document services

The library provides information on scientific, technical, strategic, business or news-related queries.
