Yukon government remains committed to supporting long-term municipal sustainability

WHITEHORSE—Premier Darrell Pasloski along with four Yukon government ministers and an MLA will meet with mayors and councillors at the 37th annual general meeting of the Association of Yukon Communities (AYC) in Dawson City from May 4-6.

The premier will attend the AYC meeting along with Community Services Minister Elaine Taylor and ministers Scott Kent, Wade Istchenko and Currie Dixon as well as MLA Stacey Hassard.

"Local governments play a critical role in providing programs and services to Yukoners and I look forward to continuing to strengthen the working relationships amongst our government, municipal governments and the Association of Yukon Communities,” Pasloski said.

Premier Pasloski is a guest speaker and will attend most of the conference. Minister Taylor and officials with the Department of Community Services will also be present to lead the Minister’s Roundtable, provide updates, participate in discussion and hear firsthand about local issues.

“I look forward to our discussion and to continuing work with municipal leaders on initiatives of importance to the people in each of our communities,” Taylor said.

Events kick off with an administrator’s forum on May 3 followed by the annual general meeting at the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Hall, which will wrap up on May 6.
