Rural land management and development services consolidated

WHITEHORSE—Effective today, the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources (EMR) will be the single contact for all land management, planning and development services outside of Whitehorse.

“All communities outside Whitehorse – incorporated and unincorporated – will now be working solely with EMR for their land management needs,” Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources Scott Kent said. “This consolidation enhances the efficiency of land development services to rural Yukon.”

All land development initiatives outside the Whitehorse city limits will now be coordinated by EMR’s Land Management Branch. Previously, rural land development was managed by the Department of Community Services.

Some programs and staff were transferred from the Department of Community Services to the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources to enact this plan.
