Nominations sought for 2017 Community Safety Awards

The nomination period for the 2017 Community Safety Awards is now open. Yukoners are asked to submit nominations under the categories of individuals, youth, community groups or programs, RCMP members or other law enforcement officials, and first responders. The nominees need to have demonstrated a high level of commitment to community safety in Yukon.

Successful recipients will be presented the awards during a ceremony held during national police week in May. Justice officials are reaching out to local communities, stakeholders and First Nations to encourage nominations.

Nominations for the Community Safety Awards can be submitted until March 6.

Quotes

“The Community Safety Awards are a great way to pay tribute to Yukoners who contribute to the safety of Yukon communities. Recognizing their efforts provides an excellent example for other citizens in the areas of crime prevention and first response. If you know someone who meets the award criteria, please nominate them for a Community Safety Award.”

–Minister of Justice Tracy-Anne McPhee
