Key organizations to consult

There's a lot you can do to take your exporting business to the next level and a lot of organizations that are willing to help you get there.

The best part about exporting is that you don't have to go it alone. There's a wealth of resources you can take advantage of - from understanding basic contractual language to government-sponsored assistance and training. And when it comes to finding those resources, we've done the legwork for you. You'll find some of your best key resources listed in this section, all organized for easy reference.

Federal

Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
Developing Global Markets
ACOA offers export and trade training programs and seminars across Atlantic Canada, as well as business development financing. ACOA can help with advice, training, business plans, marketing plans, internships and interest-free loans. Training programs cover trade awareness, export counseling, export assessments, export training, trade missions and market information.

Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC)
CCC is a federal Crown corporation mandated to promote and facilitate international trade on behalf of Canadian industry particularly within government markets. When CCC is engaged as prime contractor on your export sale, CCC signs the contract with the buyer and then sub-contracts to you. This gives you an edge over the competition while reducing your project risks.

Canadian Trade Commissioner Service (TCS)
The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service can help companies succeed globally and lower the costs of doing business through four key services: Preparing for International Markets; Assessing Market Potential; Finding Qualified Contacts; and Resolving Problems.

CMHC International
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)
CMHC is taking the lead in sharing Canada's housing expertise with the world. By helping other countries make housing more accessible and helping Canadian companies find opportunities in new markets, CMHC is becoming an ambassador of Canadian excellence. Farm Credit Canada (FCC)
FCC is Canada's largest provider of business and financial services to farms and agribusiness.

Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC)
BDC helps create and develop Canadian businesses through financing, venture capital and consulting services, with a focus on small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Global Affairs Canada (GAC)

Industry Canada

Standards Council of Canada
SCC facilitates the development and use of national and international standards and accreditation services to enhance Canada's competitiveness and social well-being. The Standards Council carries out a variety of functions to ensure the effective and coordinated operation of standardization in Canada. It also represents Canada's interests on standards-related matters in foreign and international forums.
