We are excited to present the first edition of the quarterly publication from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), The Chronicle. It will provide updates on the Agency's activities and highlight some of the changes we have underway.

The Agency is addressing an ever-changing and more global environment. We are innovating not for innovation's sake, but to keep pace with changes in industry, in society and in our world.

In November 2012, the Safe Food for Canadians Act received Royal Assent in Parliament, setting in motion the development of new regulations to bring this Act into force.

Consultation and Engagement Opportunities

Consultation is a key activity of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). It supports open and transparent government. A number of consultations are underway over the course of winter 2017, including the proposed Safe Food for Canadians Regulations, cost-recovery, food labelling, among others.
