Engaging in theories and practices of human rights education: A partnership with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights

Teachers operate on the front lines when it comes to inspiring and informing  young Canadians about human rights. The Museum will offer a variety of programming to assist teachers, deepen their knowledge of human rights, and think critically about ways in which to use museum exhibits to support their classroom curriculum and practices.

Engaging in theories and practices of human rights education: A partnership with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, July 4-17, 2017. 

Course Description:

This Summer Institute, offered in collaboration with the Museum, will examine the theories, topics and issues in relation to human rights education, and will take place in a variety of community-based settings, including the Museum. This course explores difficult human rights issues and how educators can better understand them in attempts to teach and lead for human rights education.  The language of instruction is in English and the course runs from July 4 to 17, 2017 from 8:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m.

General Course Information:

• Students must register in a total of six (6) credit hours of EDUB 5220 T05 and EDUA 5080 T02 (10 days)
• Pre-reading will be required.
• Class times are 8:30 a.m. -4:30 p.m. and may be adjusted to accommodate some events that may be scheduled as part of the institute.
