State of Canada's forests report

The State of Canada's Forests Annual Report - 2016

Canada has rich forest resources and we manage them sustainably. Through The State of Canada’s Forests Annual Report, Natural Resources Canada provides the only national snap shot of Canada’s forests and forest industry. We’ve been tracking our journey towards sustainable forest management for 26 years.

The theme for this year’s report is climate change. Read on to explore: the impacts climate change is having on Canada’s forests through fire, bugs and disease; how the forest sector and communities are adapting through sustainable management practices and innovative uses of wood and wood products; and how forests can be part of Canada’s climate change solution.

From the Minister

"Canadians can be proud of our forest sector, which is one of the world's leaders in sustainable forest management. [...] There can be no solution to climate change that does not include Canada's forests and forest sector."
