Telecom Public Notice

Ottawa, 10 June 1999
Telecom Public Notice CRTC 99-16
TELECOMMUNICATIONS FEES
1.The Telecommunications Fees Regulations, 1995, SOR/95-157, 23 March 1995 (the 1995 Regulations), provide for the payment of annual telecommunications fees by certain Canadian carriers. Section 4 of the 1995 Regulations sets out the formula for the calculation of the telecommunications fees.
2.In Proposed Amendments to Regulations Respecting Telecommunications Fees, Telecom Public Notice CRTC 98-34, 20 November 1998 (PN 98-34), the Commission invited comments on broadening the base of telecommunications fee-payers and charging fees for international telecommunications services licences.
3.The issues raised by PN 98-34 are still before the Commission and will be disposed of at a later date. As a result, the calculation of the telecommunications fee invoice amounts for the 1999/2000 fiscal year are based on the 1995 Regulations which were still in effect 1 April 1999.
4.As contemplated by Section 4 of the 1995 Regulations, the Commission hereby publishes:
(1) the amount to be recovered through telecommunications fees due 9 July 1999: $17.604 million; and
(2) the aggregate of operating revenues: $18.59 billion.
