Field Trips Not to Be Missed!

Everyone will soon be heading back to school, so now is the perfect time to plan your field trips for the year. We suggest enriching, educational visits to each of the governor general’s two official residences.

At the Citadelle of Québec, our school program, On His Excellency’s Secret Service, allows students to participate in an educational, interactive and fun activity. There are three missions in which they can take part, depending on their grade level: “New France,” “Responsible Government” and “Democracy.” Each mission is designed to apply the ideas they have studied in class, in accordance with the curriculum in each Canadian province. For a description of the missions, schedules and reservations, please visit our web page on educational activities at the residence of the governor general at the Citadelle of Québec.

At Rideau Hall, in Ottawa, our school tours of the residence and the grounds present the governor general’s various responsibilities in such a way as to deepen your students’ understanding of Canada’s parliamentary system. Depending on the tour you choose, your students will also discover official State rooms or a unique historical site. Extend your visit by having a picnic on the grounds (in the fall or spring) or by going for a skate on the outdoor skating rink (in the winter). For schedules and reservations, please visit our web page on educational tours at Rideau Hall.

Don’t miss the chance to discover one of these historical sites and to learn more about the role of the governor general of Canada. All activities are free of charge. Reserve your tour now (613-991-4422 or 1-866-842-4422 or guide@gg.ca)!

We wish you all a pleasant return to school and hope to be in contact with you throughout the year.
