Queen Mary and Ile de France
Being a farm boy and never seeing a ship before, I was dazzled by the size of the Queen Mary. They said there were 20 000 troops aboard; on our trip overseas. We slept wherever we could find a place could find a place. It took 4 ½ days to cross. I arrived in Grenich Scotland.
On returning to Canada on the Ile de France, I spent my 21st birthday in the middle of the Atlantic (in 1945). We were treated so good on our trip home to Edmonton by the Red Cross.
