A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Inspiring Donors

With your help this year we’ve been able to:

Bring ‘firsts’ to Canadians by supporting our travelling exhibition Canada: Day 1, which explores the varied and personal day one experiences of immigrants from Confederation to present day. More than 50,000 visitors viewed the exhibit in Saskatchewan, and a mini version of the project was on display at the opening of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Shape tomorrow’s leaders today through our School Group Education Program, which over the past year saw more than 5,000 students participate in interactive educational workshops where they were encouraged to connect with the experiences of a newcomer and reflect on how immigration has shaped our identity.

Bring history to life with our BMO Oral History Gallery, which has grown to more than 900 interviews of first-hand immigration experiences from people originating from more than 80 countries.

Help new arrivals find meaningful employment and gain valuable Canadian work experience through our Welcome Home to Canada program. This past year, 10 newcomers worked in a variety of roles at the Museum, helping share our immigration stories with the public.

Continue marking family legacies, brick by brick through the Sobey Wall of Honour, which a growing number of people use to commemorate their family’s journey to Canada and celebrate their heritage.

From interactive public programs and educational visits, to inspiring exhibitions that have travelled across the country, historical research and national outreach—our donors have a hand in supporting all of our efforts to collect, share and pay tribute to the Canadian immigration story.
