This #BlackHistoryMonth, Canadians should know the incredible story of Curley Christian.

On April 9, 1917, during the Battle of Vimy Ridge, Christian was burie...d alive for two days under rubble that crushed his limbs. Although he was rescued, his stretcher-bearers were killed by enemy fire.

Christian survived, but gangrene claimed all of his limbs. He became the first and only person to survive a quadruple amputation during the First World War.

Christian’s positive attitude was legendary. With his artificial limbs, he was active as an advocate for Canadian veterans until his death in 1954.

The proof of his resilience is preserved in meticulous detail in our military records: http://ow.ly/ANNb308jkJZ
