Nuclear Facilities

There are several major nuclear facilities operating across the Canada; these include uranium mines and mines, uranium processing facilities, nuclear power plants and major nuclear substances processing facilities.

There are also several new nuclear projects proposed in some Canadian communities; these projects are at different stages of the environmental assessment or licensing process.

All new nuclear projects must undergo an environmental assessment. Before a project can begin, a license from the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) must be issued.
