Reports - Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency

Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency Statistics

As the federal authority for supervising betting in Canada on horse racing, the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency (CPMA) has access to a wide range of records and reports concerning betting by licensed pari-mutuel operators. This information is used to establish that racing associations are operating consistent with the Pari-Mutuel Betting Supervision Regulations.

While CPMA does maintain a betting dataset describing betting activity based on location and product, the CPMA does not own that data. Rather, it belongs to the operators that furnished the information. The CPMA regularly receives and responds to requests to share betting data. However, in order to release information that is identifiable as activity conducted by a specific racetrack, the CPMA must now receive a completed Consent to Disclose Pari-Mutuel Betting Information form, signed by the applicable racing association.

While this requirement is a departure from previous practices, it must be adhered to in order to ensure that the privacy rights of Canadian racetrack operators are appropriately respected. Pari-mutuel betting data that is not racetrack specific (for example, data at a national level) may still be released without submission of a completed consent form.
