Mazda CX-5

A new, second-generation CX-5 crossover debuted for the 2017 model year, so it’s minor revisions only for 2018, the exception being Mazda’s first offering of a diesel engine to the Canadian market. Uncommon for the compact SUV segment, the CX-5’s powertrain lineup comprised three engines and two transmissions. At the entry level, the CX-5 is powered by a 155-hp 2.0L four-cylinder, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The rest of the model lineup is equipped with the 187-hp, 2.5L four-cylinder, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift mode and drive selection switch. The available 2.2L turbodiesel four-cylinder will bring a new driving dynamic to the CX-5 lineup Mated to an automatic transmission, it pumps out 150 hp and, more importantly, 280 lb-ft of torque at a low 1,800 rpm. It will also have a urea-based after-treatment system.
