Civilian Instructors (CIs) are divided into 3 categories:

  • Specialist.  Adults are employed on an occasional basis to instruct cadets.  Specialist CIs have specific knowledge or qualifications not normally found in the CCO like sail instructors, pilots, rock climbing instructors, etc.
  • Contingency.  Adults are employed to supervise cadet activities in the event that the regularly scheduled Canadian Forces (CAF) member or Generalist CI is not available to supervise a cadet activity.
