Accessibility

Wheelchairs and Scooters

• The Canadian Museum of Nature is wheelchair-accessible.
• Wheelchairs and scooters are permitted in all areas of the museum.
• We have manual wheelchairs to loan to visitors. They are available on a first come, first served basis.

Walking Aids

Walking aids, such as canes, crutches and walkers, are permitted in all areas of the museum.

Disability Parking

• The museum's parking lot has spaces reserved for visitors with disabilities.
• There is an accessible drop-off area by the main entrance.

Ramps

The museum has two barrier-free ramps:

• one with a grade of about 5% between the main entrance and the reception desk
• one with a grade of about 8% leading to the Lab.

Seating

• All tables in the museum's eating areas are accessible.
• Our theatre has four spaces reserved for wheelchairs and scooters.
• Every gallery and special exhibition has seating.

Washrooms

• All washrooms in the museum are accessible.
• Assisted toileting washrooms are located on the basement level, and on the second, third and fourth floors.

Families

• Accessible family washrooms are in our basement, second, third and fourth floors.
• All washrooms have a changing table.
• A nursing room is on the ground floor.

Water Fountains

All water fountains in the museum are accessible.

Assistive Listening Devices

FM listening devices to assist with amplification and clarity are available for use in the theatre and Barrick Salon. They may be used with or without a hearing aid. You will need to provide a piece of photo identification to borrow one.
