Radio-Canada Acadie to relocate its Moncton facilities

July 24, 2013, Moncton

Radio-Canada announced today that plans to move Moncton’s Maison de Radio-Canada have been approved by the public broadcaster’s Board of Directors. The new Moncton facilities will be located on 165, Main Street (in the space formerly occupied by retailer Zellers).

“This project will allow Radio-Canada Acadie to take up new challenges by setting up shop in a leading-edge space fitted with the latest technology so it can work with innovative production and broadcasting methods. The new Centre will give staff what they need to create and innovate, as well as provide audiences with even more regional reflections along with relevant, unifying programming inspired by what’s happening in Acadia,” says Patricia Pleszczynska, Executive Director of Regional Services at Radio-Canada.

“The Moncton project is the final phase of our initiative to transform our multiplatform centres in regions managed by French Services,” explains Pleszczynska.

Radio-Canada Acadie Director Richard Simoens says “the new Centre will be especially conducive to sharing information. We’ll be able to equip staff with the latest work tools so they can contribute to our various platforms. All our programs will benefit from this sharing and proximity, and we’ll be providing the public with a living space.”

“The project is a very stimulating one for all Radio-Canada Acadie staff. Our employees will be able to tap into their experience to foster a work and broadcasting space that’s closer to our audiences across all platforms,” adds Simoens.

The new facilities, to be located on 165, Main Street in Moncton, will meet the space and technology needs of the station’s TV, radio, and web services.

For Radio-Canada, relocating the Moncton facilities is fully in line with the public broadcaster’s 2015 strategy Everyone, Every way, which identifies regional and digital services as core priorities.
