Materials on this web site were produced and/or compiled by the Canadian Museum of Nature for the purposes of providing the public with information about natural sciences and the museum. The term "materials" includes all or any information, artwork, text, video, audio, animation and image files.

Terms and Conditions

Information on nature.ca has been posted with the intent that it be readily available for non-commercial, personal use only. Personal users may download, copy and share material under the following conditions:

  • material must not be modified
  • any associated copyright or other proprietary notices must be retained
  • user must acknowledge the source of the material. The source citations should include the URL nature.ca.
  • users must adhere to any additional terms and restrictions that may appear on individual pages of the web site.

Definition of Commercial Use

Museum material used in a product produced by a commercial or by a non-profit entity for profit-making, income generating purposes, commercial purposes, or, a product produced and distributed free of charge, at cost, or at a minimal charge generally by a non-profit organization.

Trademarks

Names, titles, trademarks, service marks, and logos that appear on nature.ca are registered to the museum and/or third parties. These trademarks shall not be used without prior written permission.

By using the nature.ca web site, the user represents and warrants that the use will be consistent with these Terms and Conditions. Direct any complaints about or objections to material posted on nature.ca, because it was not properly credited or it was posted without permission, to the Intellectual Property office: IP@mus-nature.ca.

Changes to the Terms and Conditions of Use

The terms and conditions of use may be changed without notice. Please review them regularly. Use of nature.ca after a change has been made acknowledges the user's acceptance of the change.

Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions and any amendments or revisions shall be governed by applicable Canadian federal law and the laws of the Province of Ontario. Any case, controversy, suit, action, or proceeding arising out of, in connection with, or related to these Terms and Conditions shall be brought in the appropriate federal court.

If any of these Terms and Conditions of use should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable, it shall be deemed deleted and the remaining Terms and Conditions of use shall survive and continue to be binding and enforceable.
