Here are some specifications regarding the usage of the booking engine:

For screen readers

Please directly enter the date with the following format : 2 digits month / 2 digits day / 4 digits year. Depending on the screen reader, the calendar widget may not be convenient.

For keyboard controls:

Tab to the button and press Enter to launch a keyboard aware datepicker control.

  • Day navigation: Ctrl + ← → ↑ ↓
  • Previous month: Page Up
  • Next month: Page Down
  • Close datepicker (without selecting date): Escape
  • Select highlighted date and close datepicker: Enter

 

On board

Please note that the range of our special and adapted services may vary from one region to another, depending particularly on station facilities and train cars. Therefore, to help ensure that your individual needs are met and that your trip is as comfortable and pleasant as possible, please:

  • book travel 48 hours or more in advance
  • call us to purchase your tickets at 1 888 VIA-RAIL (1 888 842-7245) or TTY 1 800 268-9503 (hearing impaired) or at one of our ticket counters at the station nearest you.
  • specify the special services you will require to the agent when booking.

VIA suggests that all customers with special service requests arrive at VIA stations early for safe and timely access to the correct platform. Please validate VIA station hours as some stations open 30 minutes prior to scheduled train time.
