Welcome to Scouting, the perfect place for kids to be kids. Here, memories are made and friendships are forged through countless campfires, hikes and overnight camps. It’s a place where youth gain leadership skills by leading their peers on meaningful adventures in nature.

Through our youth-led programming, Scouts pave their own path to outdoor adventure and fun by setting their own goals, creating organized plans to achieve these goals, and collectively reflecting on their experiences and personal development. Youth leadership is one of the many ways that the Scouts Canada program helps youth develop into critical thinkers and team players, better prepared for success in the world.

Along the way, youth are surrounded by committed and passionate Scouters who create a safe and inclusive environment for youth to discover the best in themselves. A Scout is confident, capable, and empowered to create meaningful contributions to creating a better world.

Beaver Scouts

Ages 5-7

Discover adventures like camping, hiking, playing games and enjoying campfires. Make great new friends along the way, along with lasting memories!

Explore the Pond

Cub Scouts

Ages 8-10

Embark on outdoor adventures like hikes, weekend camps and canoeing. As a Pack, Cubs are encouraged to try new and exciting activities including STEM projects and cultural experiences.

Blaze your own trail. Delve into more leadership opportunities and develop self-confidence by planning adventures with your Troop and giving back to the community in a meaningful way.

Scouts Canada + STEM

Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

The Scouts Canada STEM program relies on the Scouting practice of “learning by doing” to ignite curiosity, foster innovation and create a climate in which youth can see themselves as future leaders in the fields of science and technology.

STEM has long been an integral part of the Scouting experience, from building shelters to connecting with and understanding the natural ecosystems around us. With a new emphasis on STEM, we hope to provide youth with valuable resources to improve their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, helping them discover the world.

Youth Leadership

Youth-led is one of the Four Elements of Scout Canada’s Program

Through Youth-led programming, young people gain leadership skills by leading their peers on meaningful adventures. The program encourages youth to lead, while adult volunteer Scouters facilitate. Setting their own goals, creating organized plans to achieve these goals, and collectively reflecting on their experiences and personal development are ways in which youth lead the program.

Scholarships

Scouts Canada Scholarship Program

The Scouts Canada Scholarship Program provides financial support to members of Scouts Canada entering or continuing in full-time studies at Canadian Universities or Colleges.

All recipients are motivated youth who, with the help of their Scouting experiences have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and a desire to create a better world.

No One Left Behind

Ensuring no youth is left behind

In 2007, Scouts Canada announced the No One Left Behind program in an effort to ensure that every youth is provided with the opportunity to experience new adventures with a local Scouts Canada program. Through No One Left Behind, membership fees and related costs are subsidized for youth from families facing economic barriers.

Sleeping in a tent for the first time, my first campfire, participating in two Canadian Jamborees; the first one allowing me to travel on a plane, alone, for the first time. Community service is a key aspect of our programming. It not only helps the community, but teaches youth how to make contributions to society as youth and adults. Maintaining a bee farm, organizing food drives and crafting Christmas cards has made an impact on the very grateful residents that the youth help.

The most important skills I have learned through Scouts are the skills that have helped shape me as an individual. Scouts has taught me how to be a confident and patient person, how to talk to strangers and speak at public events. It challenged me to push myself to my limits. It gave me the courage to travel 1,400 km away from home to go to CJ’17 at the age of 10, and to fundraise all the money I needed for the journey. It also challenged me to hike 28 km in the Rideau Challenge as a first year Scout.
