Leading the Way: Working with LGBTQ Athletes and Coaches
Leading the Way is a practical resource for coaches to create welcoming, inclusive teams. This second edition now includes the Canadian results of the international Out on the Fields Study on Homophobia in Sport (2015), and reflects the recent guidance to sport organizations on creating inclusive environments for trans identities released by the CCES.
Coaching Masters Athletes
Masters sport is booming, and older athletes are seeking coaching guidance as they strive to learn new skills, improve their performance, or compete successfully. Coaching Masters Athletes, a new NCCP resource now available for coaches, offers an exciting opportunity for all coaches to have a positive impact on the lives of adults who want to lead a healthy and active lifestyle, and on society by encouraging more adults to be active.
Long-term Athlete Development for Parents
Many parents are looking for answers to explain what is right for their child when it comes to athletic development. As a coach, you need something that will help explain the facts in an easy, accurate, and user-friendly manner. The Coaching Association of Canada, in coordination with Canadian Sport for Life, has created the following document: “Long-Term Athlete Development Information for Parents” to help coaches educate the parents of the children in their programs.
Coaching Athletes with a Disability
Coaching Athletes with a Disability is a manual designed to provide grassroots coaches who have never worked with athletes with a disability with basic information, guidelines, and tips that will assist in creating conditions for effective participation and inclusion.
Working with LGBT Athletes and Coaches
This top 10 list, inspired by the CAAWS resource, Leading the Way: Working with LGBT Athletes and Coaches, is based on the experiences of Canadian athletes and coaches. The resource aims to make sport a more welcoming place for those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and two-spirited.
Straight Talk About Children and Sport
Straight Talk About Children And Sport provides some important information about the early developmental needs of young children in organized sport. It focuses on children between the ages of six and 12 years, a time when they are most likely to be introduced to sport. Because all children develop at different times and at different rates, the ages used in the book are provided only as a general guideline.
